Christmas is celebrated worldwide with joyful Christmas carols playing in malls and restaurants. People gather to give gifts and enjoy a good time of laughter and joy. All these bring joy, but temporal joy. As believers, our joy is anchored in permanence and eternity—in the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the God of Eternal Life. Jesus entered our human history as the greatest gift from God. Apostle John in 1 John 1:1-4 presents to us God’s tangible & visible gift of His Son. Jesus made visible God the Father who is invisible. Pastor Joe Heng preaches "Christmas Joy" from 1 John 1:1-4
God promised peace, victory & restoration to the faithful remnant who suffered under the oppression of the godlessness and the judgement that God will be bringing upon Judah for their national disobedient. The victory and restoration find its fulfilment in Jesus the giver of true peace. Pastor Joe Heng preaches on Perfect Peace and Future Glory from Micah 4.
Who are the wise & spiritual? Paul taught the church in Corinth God's truth to deflate their pride of being wise & spiritual. He highlighted their errors of using worldly wisdom in their evaluation of their leaders. The church is God's field. God's building & God's Temple, God's spirit dwelled in them thus they must live their live reflecting Christ in their life individual & collectively as God's church. Pastor Joe Heng preaches.
The Crucified Christ was a folly to many. To those who believe, it is God's Power and Wisdom. Is the Crucified Jesus, a folly or wisdom? Pastor Joe Heng preaches.
Israel had many evil kings and Manasseh the one who broke the camel's back. He dashed all hope for Israel to walk right with God again. In God's Sovereignty, God prepared Josiah 300 years before he was born. He was a good king but it came too late to turn God's anger away. Why God did not send Josiah earlier? What hope do we have that God will keep His promise of an eternal king as exile is just round the corner. Pastor Joe Heng preaches from 2 Kings 21-23.
2 Kings 4 & 5 showed us our God who will watch over those who remain faithful to God. If God will relentlessly pursue a wayward nation to turn back how much more will He will go all out to hear the cry of His faithful children. God's mercy also goes beyond Israel. A pagan army Commander of Syria has his health restored and spiritually transformed because of a God-fearing servant girl he captured from his conquest. Indeed nothing can stop the flow of God's steadfast love and mercy. Pastro Joe Heng preaches.
Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus. God intervened into human history to bring the greatest gift. Jesus is Joy to the World because he came as flesh & blood to bring reconciliation & restored vertical fellowship with God & horizontal fellowship with man. Apostle John in 1 John 1:1-4 present to us God’s tangible & visible gift of His Son. One who is transcendent yet knowable. Pastor Joe Heng preaches.
Are we sharer or multiplier of sorrows? As God’s people, we have received comfort from God. We are channels of God’s comfort to those suffering. The dialogues between Job & his friends can teach us what is helpful & harmful counsel, as graded by God. Pastor Joe Heng preaches from Job 4-5.
Christ, the worthy High Priest & the unblemished sacrifice, has once & for all dealt with the problem of sin. We are forgiven people. We live our lives wherever reflecting our new status in Christ. Pastor Joe Heng preaches from Hebrews 9:1-10:18.
Daniel 5 is about God's encounter with two kings. God dealt graciously with them to bring them to their knees. They took great pride in their power & position without acknowledging that their lives were in fact in the hands of the Sovereign God. Similar to these two kings, we too live our lives taking pride in the blessings we have in our lives. We treasured the gifts and ignore the Giver. We neither give thanks nor glorify God. The accounts of these two kings acts as a warning to our prideful lives. Will we heed the warning & turn our boast in self to boast in the Lord? Pastor Joe Heng preaches
As finite man & woman, our knowledge is confined to the present. However, we constantly struggle with not knowing our future would be like. We want to know but we cannot. Nebuchadnezzar too wanted to know what his future holds. God wanted God revealed to him in a troubling dream which no one can explain to him except Daniel. God revealed the mystery to him. Do you struggle to understand your future? Hear what God had to say to Nebuchadnazzer. Pastor Joe Heng preaches from Daniel 2.
This Christmas, God is telling us we need a Saviour. God is telling us not to look high & low, left & right or look to yourself to find that saviour, look to Jesus, He is the Saviour I sent. This Saviour is the Son of God, who is the show us God. He is the Creator God. Out of love, He died for our sin. He defeated death to reconcile us back to God. Pasto Joe Heng preaches
Ezra was in the good hand of God. Ezra responded to his privileged position by abiding in the Lord & chose to go God's work, God's way for God's Glory. Pastor Joe Heng preaches Ezra 8.
Life is full of reversals, twists & turns. Without God the Master Director, each reversal, twist & turn are like unfathomable random dots. However with God the Master Director joining each dots, they will eventually form a beautiful picture. This beautiful picture is God's redemptive work. It is much more beautiful than the salvation of the Jews in Esther 8. Let's discover together how Esther 8 adds to this beautiful picture of God's redemptive work. Pastor Joe Heng preaches.
The book of Amos recorded the prophesy of impending judgment that God will be bringing to Israel because Israel had failed the Plumb Line Test. In Amos 7, we catch a glimpse of the compassionate God & His prophet in action. At the same time, God also demonstrated that He is Just in bringing judgement upon a rebellious people. Justice is necessary because God is just. Mercy & grace are equally real because God acted in grace and mercy by sending Amos to warn the people of the impending judgement giving them a chance to repent. How then does God hold justice and mercy together? Pastor Joe Heng preaches from Amos 7.
